The Cubs won their 8th straight game and 18 out of their last 21.
Chicago had tied the game at 6 in the bottom of the 9th inning on a 2-run home run by Pete Crow-Armstrong.
The Red had taken a 6-4 lead following 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning.
Ian happ had 3 hits for the Cubs which included a home run.
Chicago has now won 14 straight games at Wrigley field which is their longest win streak since 2008.
The Cubs go for the 4-game sweep against the Reds Thursday afternoon.
