Byron Police Chief Wants Rules for E-Bikes and E-Scooters

BYRON – The City of Byron will be considering crafting rules for E-Bikes and E-Scooters. Police Chief Jeremy Boehle presented a list of ideas to the Byron Public Safety Committee Wednesday night, including lighting, helmet, and cell phone use rules. He said that other municipalities have restricted use in public parking lots or sidewalks. Concerns were raised due to the number of E-Bikes and E-Scooters in the community and the multi-use recreation paths around the city. Boehle also said they expect the use of the transportation devices to only increase in popularity. He will draft something to present to the council at a future meeting.
