Byron Man Cited After Pickup Overturns Into Waterway

BYRON – A Byron man is facing charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash on Saturday night. According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an automated crash notification around 8:15 PM north of the intersection of North Mill Road and Illinois Route 72. Upon arrival, they found an unoccupied pickup that had rolled into a waterway on the east side of the 8000 block of North Mill Road. Deputies determined the northbound truck left the east side of the road, ran over a culvert marking sign, struck and damaged a concrete box culvert, and overturned into the waterway. A short time later the driver, a 35 year old Byron man, was located uninjured in the 2000 block of East Mill Road. He was cited for failure to reduce speed, improper lane usage, and allegedly leaving the scene of a property damage accident and was released with a notice to appear.
