BYRON — The Byron City Council Wednesday night discussed flooding concerns on Franklin Street and approved engineering change orders for street work and Whitaker Road maintenance, but tabled putting the wastewater treatment plant out for bid to allow more time for the design to be finalized. Public works updates included progress on the Mineral Street project and near completion of the new public works building.
New Byron City Administrator Patrica Diduch said she is working hard to meet the demands of this new role and planning for the future.
“We’re about to complete the new public works facility. And then now we’re imminently planning the new sewer treatment plant. And there’s also been major water infrastructure upgrades,” Diduch said.
“And this really I hope the people of the city of Byron know that really having this aggressive infrastructure replacement plan or capital improvements plan is really a huge asset. And it’s fundamentally going to save the city and its stakeholders millions down the road.”
Officials said the wastewater treatment plant design should be finalized before the next meeting.
