Body Pulled From Rock River In Downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD —  An investigation is underway after a body was pulled from the Rock River in downtown Rockford.  Fire officials say rescue crews were called out yesterday morning to the area behind the Rockford Public Library, near the East State Street Bridge.  There they found a man attempting to rescue a person in the water near the shoreline.  Crews removed the man from the water, and a dive team was sent in.  A body was recovered later in the day.
