Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Hit And Run Crash On Route 72

GENOA  — A bicyclist suffered major injuries after a hit and run crash early Monday on Illinois Route 72, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the crash happened at 4:27 a.m. west of a private drive in the 0400 Block, when a bicycle ridden by a 33-year-old man was struck by an unknown eastbound vehicle that left the scene before authorities arrived. The man was taken by Genoa Kingston EMS to Javon Bea Hospital Rockford with major injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
