OREGON — Becky Davis, a member of the Polo American Legion, has been selected as the new president of the Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County following the resignation of former president Joe Drought last month. Jerry Olson of the Byron American Legion Post now serves as vice president. The commission is strengthening its relationship with the Ogle County Board to improve services for veterans, including securing funding for operational needs such as internet access and building maintenance.
Davis said she wants to focus on getting the Ogle County government to handle operational costs, allowing the VAC to focus on serving veterans.
“We don’t have to worry about how we’re going to pay the bills and pay for the internet,” she said. “And the building and all the things that we need to support the veterans. So we don’t have to worry about that. So all of our focus can be on the veterans.”
