ROCHELLE – The Flagg Rochelle Community Park District on Monday night announced the promotion of Shane Bays to Superintendent of Parks & Facilities. He previously worked for 6 years as a maintenance worker. Bays noted that a number of projects have already been completed this year throughout the district, including treeline cleanup at Lake Sule and the installation of gates to prevent unauthorized access by vehicles to portions of the property. He also mentioned they replenished the sand at the volleyball court at Cooper Park and replaced parts of the playground at Flanagan Park. Bays said he is looking forward to the other playground improvements coming later this year.
“We’ve got four new ones coming in, it’s pretty exciting. I mean just work with the team to kind of get it done, work with the contractor to get it done. So I’m looking forward to that,” he said.
