Authorities Search for Rockford Man Wanted in Identity Theft Case

ROCKFORD — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office searched Saturday for a 34-year-old man whom they later believed traveled to Rockford who is accused of identity theft and possessing a stolen vehicle. Authorities said Jesus Castillo was first believed to be in the Rochelle area, but investigators later learned he allegedly paid a resident to drive him to Rockford. Deputies said Castillo was in possession of a stolen vehicle before fleeing from police on foot. The sheriff’s office also said Castillo has a history of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and dangerous drug offenses. Authorities warned the public not to approach Castillo and to call 911 if he is seen.
