AMBOY — A 53 year old Amboy man was airlifted to a Rockford hospital after a single vehicle crash Thursday night near the Green River. The Lee County 911 Center received an automated crash detection alert at about 8:05 p.m. near Pump Factory Road south of Arch Road, and deputies located a pickup truck that had crashed into a guardrail. The first deputy on scene broke a window to reach the driver, who was the only occupant, and applied two tourniquets after assessing his injuries. Fire crews from Amboy, Sublette and Dixon Rural assisted with extrication. Due to the severity of the injuries, OSF Life Flight from Peru transported the man to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and a sheriff’s office accident reconstructionist was called to the scene.
