Illinois Seeks Input On Transit Plan For Northern Counties

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Transportation is inviting residents to join virtual focus groups in April as part of its Next Move Illinois transit planning effort. The sessions will gather feedback to help improve public transportation across the state, including in Ogle, DeKalb, and Lee counties. Local transit service in the region includes the Lee Ogle Transportation System, Northern Illinois University Huskie Bus Line, Voluntary Action Center, and North Central Area Transit. DeKalb County has both fixed route and demand response service, while Lee and Ogle counties rely mostly on call ahead transportation. State officials are working to improve coordination between providers, expand access for rural residents, and strengthen transit service over time.
