Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County Requests Emergency Audit Funding Amid Ongoing Discussions with County

OREGON — The Veterans Assistance Commission of Ogle County (VAC) is asking the county for $30,000 in emergency funding to pay for a required financial audit and may need more to cover legal costs. The VAC helps local veterans get federal, state, and local benefits. At a special meeting Monday, VAC officials and their attorney said the county is asking for an audit before including the VAC in future countywide audits. They also raised concerns about office space that is not easily accessible for disabled veterans and extra benefit charges not given to other county staff. In a letter sent Wednesday, the VAC told the Ogle County Board it hopes to settle the issues without going to court, though some concerns remain.
