SYCAMORE — The Sycamore City Council on Monday night reviewed the city’s Stormwater Management Program Plan and approved its annual update without changes. The plan outlines how the city complies with its Illinois Environmental Protection Agency MS4 permit requirements for managing stormwater runoff from city owned storm sewer systems. City staff said the program includes routine street sweeping, catch basin cleaning, and inspections of stormwater outfalls, detention basins, and nearby waterways. The Community Development Department also conducts soil and erosion control inspections at construction sites, with enforcement handled through the municipal code. Staff said the plan, first adopted in 2021, has remained in compliance with state requirements and has not received public comments or major updates in the past year, though future revisions will reflect updated IEPA rules and regional efforts to add green infrastructure standards.
