OREGON — The City of Oregon has been selected for a 16 week Strong Communities program run by Hometown Consulting, LLC and Compeer Financial. The program will review city operations, staffing, communication with residents, grant paperwork, and how the community attracts and keeps businesses. The city was picked through a competitive application process, and according to Oregon City Manager Darin DeHaan, they are hoping to get some valuable insight.
“I think it’s always good to get a fresh perspective, are we missing something, or are there some new things that we need to consider going forward?”
The process has already begun with preliminary meetings with key city officials.
DeHaan notes that he really is interested in the data.
“They work with communities to develop almost like a GIS overlay for their community, which kind of specifies the types of businesses in each area and then it’ll show open spaces, which kind of gives you a better idea of finding the right things that fit in those spaces. “
The work will end with a written report and action plan for local leaders, with a regional wrap up meeting planned in June.
