DAVIS JUNCTION — The Davis Junction Village Board discussed expanding its July 3 fireworks display during their meeting last week as part of a planned 250th celebration, with officials noting rising costs.
Davis Junction Parks and Recreation Lead Brody Cook said that he would leave that decision to the board.
”So we spent $20,000 last year. We would be spending 22,000 for the same exact show this year. So it’s just whatever everyone is comfortable with for going up and going up to get a bigger show,” he said.
Board members discussed potentially increasing the budget to around $30,000 for the anniversary year and then lowering it again. They also considered shaving a few minutes off the length of the show to reduce cost. Davis Junction plans to revisit all of the options after reviewing sponsorship opportunities.
