SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois America 250 Commission has unveiled the first Passport to Illinois as communities prepare for the nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4. The free limited edition keepsake highlights 56 historic sites, museums and monuments across the state that reflect Illinois history and its role in the nation’s development. Featured locations include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, the Ulysses S Grant Home in Galena, Cahokia Mounds near Collinsville, and the Jane Addams Hull House Museum in Chicago. Passports will be available while supplies last at public libraries, highway visitor centers and participating sites, with pickup locations listed at il250.org. A digital version will also be available online. The passport was developed in partnership with several state agencies and organizations as part of the Illinois America 250 commemoration.
