ISBE Seeks Sponsors for Summer Meals Programs

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois State Board of Education is looking for sponsors and sites for the Summer Food Service Program to provide free meals to children during the summer. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program served more than 4.2 million meals and snacks in 2025. It operates in most counties through schools, nonprofits, government agencies, camps, and faith-based groups. The USDA allows grab-and-go meals in certain rural areas. Families can contact their school or the USDA National Hunger Hotline, and organizations can apply through the ISBE Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option webpages.
