West Nile Virus Detected In Mosquitoes In Whiteside County

ROCK FALLS —  West Nile Virus has been detected in mosquitoes in western Illinois. The Whiteside County Health Department says the positive test is significant because it means there are likely more infected mosquitoes in the area.  The first human case of the virus in Illinois was detected late last month.  The State Health Department recommends using insect repellents using DEET and getting rid of any standing water on your property.
