SPRINGFIELD — Governor JB Pritzker has proclaimed this week as Farm Safety and Health Week in Illinois, with Friday focusing on all-terrain vehicle safety. ATV and UTV use on farms carries high risks, with three out of five fatalities occurring in agriculture. Workers are urged to wear helmets, eye protection, gloves, long clothing, and supportive boots. Operators should follow state age and legal requirements and receive training on pre- and post-ride safety checks, including inspecting tires, controls, and fuel systems.
