Genoa Gets Grant to Remove Invasive Trees

GENOA — The City of Genoa has received a $15,000 grant to remove invasive species from parkways and riparian woodlands along the Kishwaukee River, with the work funded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and USDA Forest Service. City officials said invasive ornamental pear removals are complete, and the Forestry Division is replanting two native trees for each one removed, with final installations expected this fall.
