Volunteers Sought for Saturday’s Rock River Cleanup

OREGON –  The City of Oregon Sustainability Committee will hold the Oregon Area Rock River Sweep on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with volunteers cleaning a nine-mile stretch of the river from Mud Creek Road to Castle Rock State Park. Participants can work on foot or in boats, with free canoes and shuttle service offered by White Pelican Canoe & Kayak Rental. Registration will be at Kiwanis Park, Lowden State Park boat landing, and Castle Rock boat landing, with supplies provided and life jackets required for boaters. The cleanup, held for the first time since 2021, has a rain date of Sept. 13.
