The Cubs remain 9 games back in the NL Central Division behind Milwaukee.
The Brewers won their 14th straight game on Saturday, 6-5 in 11 innings over the Reds.
They have now won 29 out of their last 33 games.
The rubber game in the series between the Cubs and Pirates will be played Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
