STILLMAN VALLEY — The Stillman Fire Protection District now has a certified car seat technician on staff, thanks to firefighter/paramedic Hannah Nitz. Nitz completed a three-day offsite training to earn her certification, allowing her to inspect and install child car seats in line with national safety standards.
She says that installation of a car seat isn’t always straightforward.
“Some problems that they’ve come to me for is they just can’t seem to get it tight enough,” she said. “They may not know how to install it correctly based on the manual for not only the car seat, but as well as the car, and they just really need to seek some guidance just to make sure that their little ones are safe.”
The department says car seat checks will be available by appointment at 815-645-8110 to ensure proper installation and protect young passengers.
