OREGON – The Oregon City Council on Tuesday discussed proposed new rules regulating the parking and storage of recreational vehicles and trailers in residential areas. The ordinance defines recreational vehicles, sets safety and maintenance requirements, limits temporary occupancy to 14 days within a six-month period with a permit, and restricts where and how many units can be parked on a property.

Mayor Ken Williams and the council tabled the idea for future revision by the City Administrator.
“Is there a way to deal with a derelict RV that’s been sitting there for 10 years and full of moss, and neighbors are complaining because it’s unsightly, without also penalizing the regular RVs?”
The rules would have also prohibited use of such vehicles for living space outside of the permitted period.
