DeKalb County History Center Offering Genealogy Class

SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County History Center will offer a seven week genealogy class beginning Sept. 2 for people interested in researching their family history. Instructor Julie Dresser, who began studying genealogy at age 11, will cover topics including family records, census research, immigration records, military records and writing a family history. “Julie does a great job teaching. The feedback is consistently positive from people just beginning their journey in genealogy to those who worked on it for years,” History Center Executive Director Michelle Donahoe said. The class will meet Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. through Oct. 14 at the History Center in Sycamore. Registration is required and costs $25 for all seven sessions.
