FORRESTON — Forreston Sauerkraut Days returns July 30 through August 2 with four days of family activities, food, music and community events. The festival begins Thursday, July 30, with a Kids Fun Run, 5K Run Walk and fireworks show at Forreston High School. Events continue Friday through Sunday with food vendors, inflatables, face painting, bingo, live music, a bags tournament, the Drew Crase Memorial 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, the FFA Car and Bike Show, a parade and the traditional firefighter community breakfast.
“We try to have something for everybody from the kids to the adults to the young at heart people. So, yeah, it’s always a fun event,” Sauerkraut Days Chairperson Jane Koeller said.
Koeller said the festival has continued to grow after returning about eight years ago following a decline in previous years. The weekend tradition will include sauerkraut servings, brats and hot dogs, along with a variety of other food options and activities for visitors of all ages.
