Rockford Mayor Stepping Down

ROCKFORD —  Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara is stepping down.  McNamara announced that he will resign at the end of next month to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Illinois Municipal League.  The City Council will select one of its members to serve as Acting Mayor from September 1st until the next municipal election in April of next year.  McNamara has served as mayor since 2017.
