CORTLAND – A group of Illinois Lottery players who purchased a winning ticket in Cortland has officially claimed the $349 million Mega Millions jackpot from the March 25 drawing. The group, who chose to remain anonymous and call themselves “Blessed,” bought the ticket at Casey’s General Store on South Somonauk Road. The store received a $500,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The jackpot run generated nearly $24 million in ticket sales and contributed over $9 million to the state’s Common School Fund, which supports K-12 education across Illinois.
