OREGON – During the City of Oregon’s Tuesday board meeting, the Economic and Community Development Committee reported strong interest in an indoor sports and recreation center from a recent young adult forum. Participants at the Monday night event were vocal for the need for family-friendly amenities, especially during winter. Other topics included fresh food options and housing, but City Manager Darin DeHaan said the recreation center was the top priority.
“It just had so much interest from this group, and I have had some contact with three different potential investors that all have some kind of idea,” he said. “My hope is to maybe loop all three of those together. Maybe it will form some type of partnership, and we can see something like that happen.”
