ROCHELLE — More than 40 women from across the U.S. took to the skies over the weekend during the Midwest’s largest female-led skydiving event, held at Chicagoland Skydiving Center. The three-day gathering, part of the U.S. Parachute Association’s Sisters in Skydiving program, included group jumps, mentorship, coaching, live music, community meals, raffles, and a neon theme.
Lauren Pfeiffer, Skydiving Instructor at Chicagoland Skydiving Center, said they even got to do some special formationa.
“We just did a Women’s StarCrest Award, which is a nine-way all-female round, and they actually get to submit a little piece of paperwork and they get a cool sticker and a patch and be part of history,” she said.
Participants came from as far as California to Rochelle, with the weather allowing for frequent jumps throughout the weekend. This marked the 11th year for the annual event.
