ROCHELLE – The winner of the seventh Queen of Hearts drawing at the Rochelle Floyd J. Tilton VFW Post 3878 received his check after a presentation last Friday. James E. “Ed” Anders of Rochelle won more than half the prize, receiving $81,516.50 after his ticket was drawn and the Queen of Hearts was revealed. The VFW’s gambling committee recently decided to raise the starting jackpot to $10,000 for the next game, set to begin June 17, and increased community donations to $22,000, which will be distributed to local charities and veteran organizations including the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry, Little League, and VetsRoll. Since the game’s inception, the Rochelle VFW has awarded over $233,000 to community groups and veterans through more than 50 checks.
