Vehicle Striking Hydrant Causes Boil Order in Hillcrest

HILLCREST – A car leaving the roadway and striking a fire hydrant caused a village-wide boil order in Hillcrest on Tuesday. Village Officials say one of the new hydrants from the recent water main installation was struck and damaged, causing a leak that caused water pressure to drop significantly. Repairs were made quickly, in part due to the village having a spare hydrant at the ready. The driver was cited by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.
