Unemployment Rates Fall in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – Unemployment rates decreased in eleven Illinois metro areas and increased in one for the year ending February 2025, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The statewide rate is 5.1%, above the national rate of 4.1%. Kankakee and Decatur have the highest rates at 5.9%, while Bloomington has the lowest at 3.8%. DeKalb, Lee, and Ogle counties saw declines in their rates, with DeKalb dropping to 4.6%, Lee to 4.8%, and Ogle to 5.3%.
