Underwood Announces $375,000 Federal Grant for Mendota

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood announced $375,000 in federal funding for the City of Mendota to expand substance abuse treatment and recovery services. The funding is administered through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will support efforts to help people affected by alcohol and drug addiction and address mental health needs in the community. Funding also will support services for children dealing with violence and traumatic events. Underwood, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said securing federal resources for communities in the 14th Congressional District is a priority.
