FREEPORT — Two men are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Freeport. Police say officers found Chad Wirsing and Paul Laird shot to death yesterday morning in a home in the 17-hundred block of South Galena Avenue. A preliminary investigation showed that Wirsing had been shot multiple times, and Laird suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers also recovered a note taped to Laird’s body that explained the motive for his actions. An investigation is ongoing.
