POLO – More details are expected to be released today by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office after a fatal shooting late Saturday night in Polo. Deputies were called out Saturday night to a report of gunfire at a home in the 500 block of West Mason Street. Investigators determined that a 19-year-old man shot someone inside the home and was holding additional people hostage. The hostages escaped the home safely before deputies arrived. The person who was shot and the 19-year-old suspect were found dead at the scene. In a statement, the City of Polo emphasized the bravery and dedication of first responders in dealing with the situation. The incident remains under investigation.
