Trial Delayed for Ogle County Man Accused in 2016 Arson Deaths

OREGON — The trial for a 43-year-old Ogle County man accused of killing his ex-wife and young son in a 2016 house fire in Byron has been delayed until January 2026. The trial was originally set for February of this year but was pushed back after a request from Duane Meyer’s attorneys to move the case out of the county was denied in April. Margaret Meyer, 31, and her 3-year-old son, Amos, died in the October 2016 fire. Meyer was arrested in 2019 and faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated arson.
