Thousands Raised For Special Olympics During 2nd Annual Huskie Plunge

DEKALB – Around $20,000 dollars were raised for Special Olympics Illinois during the 2nd annual Huskie Plunge held Saturday in DeKalb. Over 150 participants braved the cold weather for a frigid dive into a pool at Huskie Stadium. Director of Development for Region A of Special Olympics Illinois Katie Risley said that everything came together beautifully.

“It is so amazing to see the kind of support and response that we’ve gotten for this polar plunge we’ve been preparing for this for months and we’re just excited to do it and you know it’s beautiful to have the snow as the backdrop so we just love it,” she said.

Another opportunity to make a splash and raise money for the Special Olympics will happen this coming Saturday in Mendota. For more details on how to donate or take part, visit PlungeIllinois.com.
