Pete Crow-Armstrong hit 2 home runs which included a grand slam in the 7th inning and had 6 RBI for the game.
The Cubs also had home runs by Seiya Suzuki and Dansby Swanson.
Chris Flexen got the win in relief.
The Reds had led 6-2 after 5 innings.
Game 2 in the series is Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati.
