DEKALB – Anthony Cervini, a principal with Sikich CPA LLC, presented the draft results of DeKalb’s annual financial audit for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, to the city council Monday night. He announced that Sikich will issue a clean, unmodified opinion on the city’s financial statements, which represents the highest level of assurance auditors can provide. Additionally, the city received clean unmodified opinions on its federal single audit and received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 31st consecutive year. Officials noted that a new feature of this year’s audit process included confidential, one-on-one interviews between auditors and elected officials for added transparency.
