Sheriff Warns Residents After Irrigator Wire Thefts in Whiteside County

WHITESIDE COUNTY — The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several irrigator wire thefts reported across the county that officials say are causing financial losses and disruptions for local farmers. Sheriff John F. Booker said deputies are increasing patrols in rural areas and using additional investigative tools to identify those responsible. Booker urged residents to watch for suspicious vehicles, people, or activity near farm equipment, irrigators, and remote properties and to report concerns to law enforcement immediately. He said quick reporting gives deputies a better chance to prevent additional thefts. Anyone who sees a crime in progress is asked to call 911. Booker said the thefts directly affect farmers and local families and that the sheriff’s office will continue taking proactive steps to protect rural communities.
