ROCHELLE — The Rock River Valley Blood Center collected 48 units of blood during its Save Our Summer blood drive June 3 at Holcomb Bank in Rochelle. The drive had a collection goal of 54 units and drew 52 registered donors, including seven first time donors. Blood center officials said the donations have the potential to help save up to 144 lives. The drive marked a significant increase from the 31 units collected during the same event in 2025 and was the second highest total among the organization’s last five Save Our Summer blood drives. The Rock River Valley Blood Center provides blood to 14 area hospitals and relies on community donations to maintain the local blood supply, especially during the busy summer months.
