Ryan Bivins Named New Police Chief in Dixon

DIXON — The City of Dixon has selected Sergeant Ryan Bivins as the next Chief of Police following a month-long selection process involving internal candidates and a detailed review of leadership qualifications. Bivins, a longtime member of the Dixon Police Department and U.S. Army veteran, will be sworn in on Monday, June 2, 2025. The process included management plan presentations, scenario-based evaluations, and leadership interviews conducted by a diverse committee of city officials, educators, and law enforcement leaders. Bivins brings experience in patrol, investigations, crisis response, and officer wellness programs, and is expected to lead with a focus on community engagement, public safety, and department transparency.
