Roundabout Construction to Begin Today at Lucinda and Normal in DeKalb

DEKALB –  A construction project to convert the intersection of Lucinda Avenue and Normal Road near Northern Illinois University into a roundabout will begin today, with the intersection closing to traffic. The project, scheduled after the end of the NIU school year and set for completion before students return in August, is designed to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and enhance campus walkability. A detour will redirect eastbound and westbound traffic via Annie Glidden Road, Hillcrest Drive and Garden Road, while access to nearby buildings will remain open and DeKalb Public Transit will adjust bus routes during construction.
