ROCKFORD – A Rockford woman is going to federal prison for straw purchasing firearms. Jessica Barrera was sentenced to 32-months behind bars after pleading guilty earlier this year to a charge of knowingly providing a false and fictitious written statement to a federally licensed firearms dealer. Barrera admitted that in 2021 and 2022, she purchased five firearms for her son, who was legally banned from owning a firearm.
