ROCHELLE – The Rochelle VFW Auxiliary Gardens, located on 8th Avenue across from Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Rochelle, is getting ready for spring. The community garden offers 100 plots, each measuring 20 x 30 feet, for a $20 fee from spring to October 20th. Funds raised from plot sales support scholarships for Rochelle High School seniors.
Heather Simo, Auxiliary Secretary and the Garden Committee Chairperson, said residents will be able to get their plots picked soon.
“So every year after we have it disked and tilled and the flags are out, I set up a day, usually on a Saturday, that I come down with applications to the site,” said Simo.
