Rochelle Seeks Approval for Emergency Spending After March Wind Storm

ROCHELLE – The City of Rochelle approved $516,236.38 in emergency spending following a March 14 wind storm that knocked out power to nearly 6,000 of the city’s 7,500 electric customers. The straight-line wind event caused extensive damage to pole lines, requiring immediate support from mutual aid and contractors to restore service. Over four days, local and outside crews worked to rebuild the system, with costs covering labor, materials, lodging, food, and equipment. The funds, unbudgeted at the time, were covered by the Electric Department.
