Rochelle School District Plans to Expand Pre-K Services with $390,000 Grant

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle School District plans to move its Stepping Stones preschool program to May School, after receiving a $390,000 state grant to expand early childhood education. The grant, awarded as part of Illinois’ Preschool for All program, will allow the district to increase enrollment and add more classrooms for the growing demand. Stepping Stones currently serves around 180 students, with 40 more on a waiting list. The new location at May School will require updates, including improvements to bathrooms, playgrounds, and parking. In addition to expanding capacity, the grant will fund new staff positions and outreach services for families with children under three getting more local children ready for kindergarten.
