Rochelle Reviews Bid for 2025 Steward Road Multi Use Path Project

ROCHELLE – The City of Rochelle is set to move forward with the 2025 Steward Road Multi Use Path, a planned extension from Caron Court to the existing path at the Ritchie and Steward Road intersection. After Bruns Construction withdrew its low bid, Rochelle City Engineer Sam Tesreau said they had to go with the next contractor.

“Fortunately we had about five bidders and Martin & Company was the second lowest bidder, about $20,000 more than the low bidder,” he said. “And Martin & Company is more than capable of doing this project and I’m looking forward to actually starting it within the next month.”

The $219,815.50 proposal was slightly above the engineer’s estimate. The project includes path paving, landscaping, drainage upgrades, and ditch work, and will be funded through the city’s Capital Improvement Plan. Officials may also approve up to $16,000 in additional work for nearby infrastructure improvements. Completion is expected by early September.
