ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Police Department is asking the community for help naming its new mascot. The character made its debut during National Night Out last week, and the department later turned to social media to collect name suggestions. Rochelle Police Chief Pete Pavia said the mascot was created as a way to make officers more approachable, especially for children.
“It was just something to make us more approachable with the kids. We have 70 names already that people keep coming up with. , I don’t wanna tip my hand, but there is one I’m kinda leaning towards,” he said.
